Sun, Nov 30, 2025: Pak Mong to Mui Wo via Lin Fa Shan
We will taxipool to the village of Pak Mong to find the start of the trail. From here it's a gradual ascent up to our highest point of Lin Fa Shan (766M), Hong Kong's seventh highest mountain. The peak
is actually optional, so we will see what people feel like on the day. Once we hit the Lantau Trail we will turn left and descend the many steps back to Mui Wo. We have options of an old village walking path back to Mui Wo, or a bus on the South Lantau Road. We can decide on the day what everyone feels like doing.
Please bring plenty of water.
Meeting Point: 9:30am @ Tung Chung MTR station, Exit A.
Sun, Dec 7, 2025: Tung Chung to DB via Enclosed Area & Tigers Head
We shall follow the Olympic trail close to the Tung Chung interchange and walk along this gentle path to Pak Mong Village, Tai Ho Wan. After sneaking into the special scientific preserved creek/cove area, we shall search for the Luk Hop Yuen Kung Temple and take the footpath at the back of the temple heading uphill. This is a shady walk inside natural woods with birds singing and at times not a human soul is found.
Hitting the top of Tigers Head at 420M we shall descend on some eroded trails to Discovery Bay. Bring a snack, water and stick if required for the descent.
Meeting Point: 9:30am @ Tung Chung MTR station, Exit A.
Sun, Dec 14, 2025: Christmas Hike (Chi Ma Wan Peninsula)
Merry Christmas from Roz Hiking.
Our annual Christmas hike to our favourite picnic rock on the Chi Ma Wan Peninsula. The trail is a fairly easy trail with a couple of minor gradients. Feel free to bring along anyone who wants to join in the festive cheer and please bring at
least 1 food/drink item to share. After the picnic we will continue around the lower trail back to Pui-O and then jump on a bus back to Mui Wo for a final Christmas drink and delicious soup at China Bear
before heading home. If the weather is nice we will walk all the way to Mui Wo instead.
Meeting Point: 9.30am @ Central Ferry Pier No.6 to catch the 9.40am ferry to Mui Wo. You may also catch the bus from Tung Chung and meet us in Pui-O. If you take the bus aim to get to Pui-O for 10:30am and wait opposite the Bella Ciao Restaurant (Lo Wai Tsuen stop).
Sun, Dec 21, 2025: Tung Chung to Ngong Ping via Nei Lak Shan
We'll walk from the station past the Ma Wan Chung Fishing Village along our usual coastal path from Tung Chung to Tai O and enter the side trail near Tin Sam which takes us up to Nei Lak Shan and Ngong Ping. The upslope trail may be brushy at the beginning, so long pants are recommended. The trail up will also be a little steep in places. We'll visit an abandoned mining office and some open mines on our way until we hit the high point at about 500M near the cable car pulling machinery facility.
We will finish at Ngong Ping Village and get a bus back to either Mui Wo or Tung Chung for a bite to eat. Please bring along your food, water and a pair of gloves.
Note that anyone not wanting to do the climb can continue on the easier path to Tai-O. Nei Lak Shan can also be skipped if you prefer heading down the cable car route to Ngong Ping.
Meeting Point: 9:30am @ Tung Chung MTR station, Exit B.
Thu, Dec 25, 2025: Parkview to Stanley via Violet Hill (Christmas Day Hike)
Merry Christmas from Roz Hiking.
Anyone with no Christmas Day plans may want to join us for this short walk to Stanley via Violet Hill. From the petrol station, we will walk up to Parkview to the start of the Wilson Trail Stage One. From there we will make our way up to Violet Hill. We will descend to the Tze Kong Bridge and then turn right and go via the catchwater to the Stanley Gap Road to walk a back trail to Stanley. We can grab a Christmas Day bite/drink in Stanley before heading home.
Meeting Point: 9:30am @ Central Exchange Bus Terminus for Bus No.6 (to Stanley)
Note: This hike is on a Thursday!
Sun, Dec 28, 2025: Shek Pik to Ngong Ping on a New Old Trail
Our final hike for 2025. We'll start with a good warm-up hill from the west side of Shek Pik reservoir up to Keung Shan. We'll follow the Lantau trail along the ridge and crossing the road over to the old Lantau trail section that was closed due to flooding some years ago. On this section, there will be a few spots where we need to scramble or climb. If it's ever dangerous, we can easily backtrack to the road. Most likely we make it to the wisdom path and end at Ngong Ping.
Plesae bring plenty of water.
Meeting Points: Option 1 (David) - 9:30am @ Central Ferry Pier No.6 for the 9:40am ferry to Mui Wo.
Option 2 (Angela) - Meet Angela @ 10:45am at the trail head. First stop after Shek Pik. Sha Tsui bus stop. Wait by the toilets.
