Welcome to Roz Hiking.

We are a friendly hiking group based in Hong Kong who do regular free weekly hikes, all over Hong Kong. Our hikes have varying degrees of difficulty, so please take a moment of your time to read the information on this website before joining a hike. Any questions, let us know and we hope to see you soon.
Sat, May 23, 2026: Castle Peak Evening Climb
We will start walking up from Leung King on a concrete road up about 300 metres and continue on a natural trail for another 200 metres up towards Castle Peak to watch the sunset (around 6pm). As we ascend a spectacular 360 degree vista of northwest Hong Kong gradually fall into red around us. The route is not very difficult but it is quite steep uphill all the way to the top. Also prepare for a few eroded or gravelly grounds during the climb.

After stopping for a while to look at the scenery, we will take steps down to Tuen Mun and civilization for a bite to eat before heading home. Please bring a torch as it will be getting dark for our descent.

Meeting Point: 3pm @ Leung King Light Rail Station next to Circle K, Tuen Mun Note: This hike is on a Saturday
Sat, May 30, 2026: Kowloon Walled City Park & Movie Exhibition
Kowloon Walled City (aka City of Darkness) was a densely populated, ungoverned enclave in Hong Kong, known for its high-rise, interconnected buildings, and "three-not" status (not managed by British, Chinese, or local authorities). Built as a Qing fort, it became a lawless, chaotic metropolis of 50,000 residents on only 6.4 acres before its demolition in 1993, now transformed into Kowloon Walled City Park.

We'll explore the park and the movie exhibition, which is dedicated to the Best Picture movie "Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In". This film reunited Hong Kong film professionals, as the complete movie sets were built and shot in Hong Kong.

Once we are done we'll find a local restaurant for dinner.

Meeting Point: 3:30pm @ Sung Wong Toi MTR, Exit B2 Note: This hike is on a Saturday
Sat, Jun 6, 2026: Shek Kong to Ho Pui Walk
First we'll catch a bus from the station to the trail head. Then we'll stroll along a water catchment at the edge of the woods travelling westerly, past Po Lo Shan reservoir and taking a short side trip to visit Ho Pui Reservoir as the sun sets. We'll finish in Ho Pui to catch a bus to our dinner destination.

Meeting Point: 3pm Kam Sheung Road MTR, Exit C Note: This hike is on a Saturday!
Sat, Jun 13, 2026: Macau - Borboletes and Coloane Village
We'll take the Cotai Water Jet to Taipa, Macau (about 1 hour). The hike begins at the Cotai Ferry Terminal. We will board a bus for Borboletes and then walk towards Coloane Village. We'll proceed along a tree-lined bike path, past a prison and arriving at a rustic cafe for coffee and toasted buns. Carrying on, we will pass some historic shipyards, the old Coloane Pier and the old village. If anyone wants to buy egg tarts, they will have to leave the hike at this point because we will not wait.

We'll walk through the back streets of Coloane village, arriving at the Tin Hau temple at the end of the Praia. From there we will climb the small hill and follow the quiet coastal road past cemeteries, and seaside houses, dropping down a long stairway to Cheoc Van beach. Eventually we will arrive at the Long Chao Kok Coastal Trail that rounds the peninsula that protects Hac Sa Beach. We will finish the day with early dinner at Fernando's Restaurant. The hike will take between 3 and 4 hours depending on the weather (heat) and how many stops we make.

Recommendations: Eat something for breakfast. We will have a snack around 1pm and then early dinner. We'll be walking mostly on pavement, some sand and rocky trails so walking sandals or light sneakers are fine. Bring sun protection including an umbrella for sun or showers.

Buy your ferry tickets in advance for the 10:30am ferry, returning at 9pm. Also bring your passport and/or ID card and money for the ferry (if applicable). You can get 15% off for 2 adult tickets on Klook (pricing may be updated, so check their app).

Meeting Point: 10am at the Shun Tak Centre, Sheung Wan at the boarding gate for the Cotai Water Jet. We will board the 10:30am ferry. Note: This hike is on a Saturday
