Sat, July 25 2026: To Kwa Wan & The Terrace of the Sun Kings
If anyone hasn't seen it before, we will start by looking at the "Treasures from Sacred Hill" relics unearthed during the creation of the SWT station, which are now shown in an exhibition at the station. Once we are done, we'll leave the MTR and have a slow stroll towards Whampoa via To Kwa Wan. We'll probably head towards Kai Tak stadium first for a look around, then continue on, stopping at the Cattle Depot Artist Village, before continuing along the waterfront, past Fishtail Rock, towards the Kerry Hotel in Whampoa where we can
stop for a bite to eat and refreshments before heading home.
Bring suncream, water and repellent.
Meeting Point: 3pm @ Sung Wong Toi MTR, on the Concourse by the Sacred Hill Exhibition.
Note: This hike is on a Saturday!
Sun, Aug 2, 2026: South Lantau Country Trail
We will take the bus to the trail head at Pak Kung Au and join the Country Trail at this point. The bus journey is about 15 minutes. The views of Lantau, the sea and sky are spectacular from this section of the Lantau Trail, weather permitting. It's shady and mostly flat or gentle downhill, so we should be okay for almost any kind of summer weather. At the end we`ll take the old village path back to Mui Wo for an optional lunch at the Wah Kee restaurant in the food court or the China Bear, we can decide on the day.
After lunch there are options to get the ferry back to Central or the bus to Tung Chung.
Meeting Point: 9:30am @ Tung Chung MTR, Exit B
Sat, Aug 8, 2026: Tsuen Wan West To Sham Tseng
This late afternoon stroll will take us along the waterfront from Tsuen Wan West to Sham Tseng, home to the famous goose restaurant. We'll go via the concrete path on a couple of beaches, taking in the surrounding views. Along the way we will visit Homi Villa, a Neo-Classical colonial style building built by Ruttonjee and subsequently purchased by the Hong Kong Government for staff quarters for British army officers. It is now the Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre. Clear evenings will give us spectacular views
of the Ting Kau and Tsing Ma Bridges and Ma Wan. Once we are done, we can get a bite to eat in Sham Tseng before heading back.
Bring suncream, water and repellent.
Meeting Point: 4pm @ Tsuen Wan West MTR, Exit D
