Sat, Jun 27, 2026: The Cultural Charm of Tai Wai
Our hike starts in Sha Tin. We'll walk from the station for a few mins until we come to Tsang Tai Uk, one of the best-preserved Hakka walled villages in Hong Kong. We will take a quick look here before doing a short walk along the main road to the Che Kung Temple, one of the famous attractions in Hong Kong. Che Kung Temple has a history of more than 300 years, with the red wall being one of its symbol.

From the temple we will will head to Tai Wai and Chik Fuk St and enter a part of the village through it's famous gatehouse. Here you can see a traditional pyramid-roofed old house which narrates the old story of Tai Wai Village. Walking into the village, at the end of the gatehouse is the famous Hau Wong Temple.

Once we are done we'll head to "The Wai", one of the newest malls in HK for a bite to eat. Or just grab a bite in a local restaurant so let's see what we feel like on the day.

Sat, July 4 2026: Tsuen Wan West To Sham Tseng
This late afternoon stroll will take us along the waterfront from Tsuen Wan West to Sham Tseng, home to the famous goose restaurant. We'll amble along taking in the surrounding views, including Homi Villa, a Neo-Classical colonial style building built by Ruttonjee and subsequently purchased by the Hong Kong Government for staff quarters for British army officers. It is now a heritage centre. Clear evenings will give us spectacular views of the Ting Kau and Tsing Ma Bridges. Once we are done, we can get a bite to eat in Sham Tseng before heading back.

Once we are done, we'll leave the MTR and have a slow stroll towards To Kwa Wan. We'll probably head towards Kai Tak stadium first for a look around, then continue on, stopping at the Cattle Depot Artist Village, before continuing along the waterfront, past Fishtail Rock, towards the Kerry Hotel where we can stop for a bite to eat and refreshments before heading home.
